I originally had thought I led a healthy lifestyle,  I was active with walking, and different exercise programs. I did not over indulge in sweets/snacking.  However,  my job schedule fluctuated, and while juggling the kids activities and mine I found myself not always eating regularly.  My eating habits came down to grabbing whatever food was easily accessible or fast to make. Overtime the pounds added on, I was now in my late 40's, and I had stayed at the same weight for about 4 years.   Then I was introduced to Excel Fitness and Dana.   WOW!!  what a change.   Not only was it a different type of exercise program then I had done previously, but I also learned with Dana's guidance how to eat clean.  I have been with Dana and Excel for 6 months and lost 20lbs!! I truly believe that people enter into our lives for a reason. On January 2nd 2011 I stepped on to the scale and was shocked at what I saw. In 2009 I joined the gym and started to make an effort to become more active. During the winter of 2009-2010 I gained 20 lbs. My energy and self esteem were at an all time low when I discovered that I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder {SAD}. When the sun leaves in the fall so does all of my energy and I become depressed. Having been on anti depressants in the past I was unwilling to go that route and in doing some research found that cardiovascular exercise would help, along with using a full spectrum light. Knowing my track record of the past and my lack of discipline I enrolled in a group program with Dana in March hoping to create habits over the summer to take me through the winter. During that first 13 week program I lost 34lbs, reaching my goal of being under 200lbs. By the time I was done the program I was equipped with knowledge of how to eat well and workout effectively. I have continued to join occasional group programs and Dana has stuck with me to keep me accountable and make suggestions when it’s been tough for me. Last winter I was able to cope quite well as long as I continued to do 45 min of cardio 5 times a week. I am in another program this winter to keep me motivated through my toughest time. It is a small price to pay for the continuing energy and collected state of mind I experience when I am faithful to my workouts. To date I have lost 80lbs. I consider that a side perk to my energy and mental well being.
